The launch of the Nike Air Foamposite One back in 1997 was something truly special, which resulted from Eric Avar and Penny Hardaway joining forces. Sneakerheads may actually find it hard to believe but it is actually the truth that 20 years have passed since the Air Foamposite One was first introduced. Even after 20 years, the Air Foamposite One still appears and feels as futuristic as ever, all because of its innovative uppers and thee unique pearlescent colorways it has arrived in over the years. The most latest one is actually the returning the Air Foamposite One “Royal” that is being brought back to celebrate the model’s 20th Anniversary.

However, it was revealed that Jordan Brand had pushed the sneaker’s release to 2017. Many sneakerheads were likely disappointed but it makes sense considering that 2017 marks the 20th Anniversary of the model. Hence, it is the perfect time for one of the silhouette’s most popular OG colorways to hit the shelves. Even after the sneaker’s release was rescheduled for January 13th, it got further pushed to a week later. Fortunately for sneakers, the Air Foamposite One “Royal” has finally made its return.

The Air Foamposite One “Royal” was also made available early to Nike SNKRS users. A Sharpie-inspired coloring grid was featured there that had to be unlocked in order to cop the pair. When this sneaker had debuted, it did not meet NBA’s dress code guidelines. Upon unlocking early access, sneakerheads discovered special cards bearing Penny Hardaway’s autograph, numbered between 1 and 200, along with matching Nike SNKRS markers. Sneakerheads who managed to grab these pairs received the 1Cent autograph that accompanied them.

Those who still ended up missing out could still find a pair retailing at a price of $230 since the Nike Air Foamposite One “Royal” already returned on January 20th, 2017.
