The University of North Carolina has been using the Pantone hue ever since the days of the university’s Dialectic and Philanthropic debating societies back in 1795. Pantone 542C had been chosen by the Dialectic society as its representative color. By the 1880s, football had gained tremendous popularity, and eventually Pantone and White were adopted as the primary color palette of the university. The secondary color palette was included to complement the primary one. Thus, whenever Jordan Brand decides to pay homage and tribute to Michael Jordan’s alma mater through an Air Jordan colorway, more than often they end up adding a fair amount of the Pantone hue over the sneaker.
The photos of the Air Jordan 7 “Pantone” that accompany this post were shared on Instagram by users and Back in June 2016, Jordan Brand had dropped a “Pantone” colorway of the Air Jordan 9 Low and the Air Jordan 7 is now receiving the same treatment as a part of the Air Jordan releases 2017. As can be seen, the sneaker’s nubuck uppers are predominantly dressed up in Pantone (Carolina Blue), while it is equipped with all-White soles and additional White-colored detailing can also be spotted over the uppers.
Official photos of this two-toned sneaker have not been published, yet release details about it are already available. It is being reported that the Air Jordan 7 “Pantone” will begin retailing at a price of $190 on April 29th, 2017 at select Jordan Brand and Nike retailers.
