December 14, 2016 was the date on which Nike reissued the Air Max 97 and not everyone was pleased about it. This was surprising because the Air Max 97 has often been compared to the original, the Air Max 1. Nonetheless, certain sneakerheads felt that Nike should not have reissued it, although not many would agree with that opinion. For them though, the Air Max 97 reflects the era it was introduced in and should have been left there. Yet, the Air Max 97 has received the retro treatment throughout 2017. After looking at its recent “Swarovski Crystal” colorway, sneakerheads will agree that being reissued was justified.
2017 actually marked the 20th anniversary of the Air Max 97 and perhaps one of its most sought after release of this year was the returning “Silver Bullet” colorway. In fact, Nike dropped an entire “Silver Bullet” Pack back in April 2017. Along with the Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” for men and women, the pack included an Air Max 95, Air Max Plus and an Air Max Zero. All of the included sneakers featured Metallic Silver uppers, while Red appeared over the Nike “Swoosh” logos and other branding. All of the sneakers were also equipped with clean White-colored midsoles. Moreover, they all retailed at different prices.
As mentioned, the latest retro colorway of the Air Max 97 from Nike has been dubbed “Swarovski Crystal” and it is the most luxurious one to have arrived in 2017. This brand new iteration draws inspiration and pays homage to the original colorway of the Air Max 97 from back in 1997. Furthermore, it happens to be a women’s exclusive. Its nickname refers to the fact that its fuse uppers have Swarovski crystals embedded into them throughout. Over all, its uppers appear to be sporting a monochrome Black, Grey and White color scheme, with crystals making it appear quite dazzling and sparkly.
Considering that this is one of the most luxurious Air Max 97 releases of 2017, it should not astonish that this sneaker is now retailing at a price of $400. Indeed, this Nike Air Max 97 “Swarovski Crystal” just arrived at select retailers on September 7th, 2017 and of course, only the small-footed sneakerheads will be able to laced up in a pair.
