There was merely a single collaboration between adidas and BAPE this year in 2017. Technically, rumors about the two BAPE x adidas NMD R1 iterations had been circulating since back in June 2016 and they actually made their retail debut on November 26th last year, the day after Black Friday, but not in Europe. For some reason, the arrival of the BAPE x adidas NMD R1 collaborative release in Europe got delayed and postponed until this year, and the two sneakers finally hit the shelves in January 2017. It seems that the latest collaboration between adidas and BAPE will revolve around the Dame 4.
The only adidas and BAPE collaboration of 2017 revolved around the revolved around the Superstar BOOST and was a three-way collaboration including NEIGHBORHOOD, the Japanese streetwear brand. Apart from being a part of this special collaboration, the included Superstar iteration was a unique edition due to the inclusion of BOOST in the midfoot of each shoe. Additionally, the uppers of the low-top sneaker were made up of a combination of Primeknit and premium suede. Last but not least, the heels and heels tabs featured embroidered BAPE and NEIGHBORHOOD branding. The BAPE x NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar BOOST began arriving at select adidas retailers from February 4th, 2017 and onwards.
For sneakerheads who may not be aware, the Dame 4 is Damian Lillard’s fourth signature sneaker with adidas and it will now be a part of this exclusive collaboration with BAPE. It seems that this collaborative pack will be camouflage-themed and will include not one but two Dame 4 colorways. While actual photos of the two sneakers have not surfaced, leaked colored drawings of these Superstar BOOST iterations do offer a preview of what they will likely look like. Featuring Black- and Green-colored camo uppers, respectively, they will apparently also be sporting BAPE’s signature shark face and teeth branding along the sides over their midsoles.
Reports and rumors suggest that the BAPE x adidas Dame 4 “Camo” Pack will be making its retail debut at some point in 2018. This means that there is plenty of time for real photos of the actual two sneakers to pop up online between now and next year.
