What is the one particular thing that DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg have in common? In case some of the readers are still wondering, they both not only happen to be sneakerheads, they both also have quite the close ties with Jordan Brand. Currently, DJ Khaled is the only person to have adult-sized pairs of the Just Don x Air Jordan 2 “Arctic Orange” or “Pink.” Back in January, Mark Wahlberg had teamed up with Jordan Brand to design three different Jordan Formula 23 colorways. Another thing that DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg now have in common is that they both shared Instagram photos of this Air Jordan 5.
This latest, never-before-seen colorway of the Air Jordan 5 is being referred to as the “Fab 5” Michigan PE. The color scheme, nickname and “PE” at the end would suggest this has iteration has been designed exclusively for the members of the Michigan Wolverines roster. However, this does not seem to be the case. The “Fab Five” literally were five of Michigan’s most fabulous athletes that made quite a lasting impact on the sport of basketball during their time in NCAA. They were Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, Juwan Howard and Ray Jackson.
It turns out that DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg are the first ones to receive a pair of this sneaker that may not end up joining upcoming Jordan releases 2017, or even hit the shelves in the near future. Inspired by the iconic early ‘90s team, Jordan Brand has apparently whipped up this Air Jordan 5 “Fab 5” Michigan PE exclusively for the Friends and Family of DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg, so there are only a limited number of pairs in existence. The sneaker is predominantly dressed up in Maize, while Anthracite and Black-colored detailing appears throughout.
Additionally, this sneaker also features “Hail to the Victors” tags, Michigan Wolverines’ branding on the tongues, and the Fab 5’s hand sign symbol on the heels. Moreover, both DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg also seem to have received a collectible card along with the pair.
