Jordan 12 “Alternate” Arrives Early & Other AJ12s Are On Their Way Too

During the 1997 NBA Finals when the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz were tied with each other, Michael Jordan performed impressively on behalf of this team despite suffering from flu-like symptoms. He lifted the Bulls to a series lead all the while laced up in an Air Jordan 12 colorway that ended up getting dubbed the “Flu Game.” This weekend marks the 19th anniversary of that game that was played on June 11, 1997 and Jordan Brand is looking forward to celebrate the milestone by setting up a special pop-up shop.

JORDAN-BRAND-1Michael Jordan’s performance 19 years ago was nothing short of a miracle and in commemoration of it, a special Jordan Brand pop-up shop will be held at the Salt Lake City, Utah-based Fice Gallery and Boutique. A limited number of pairs of the Air Jordan 12 “Alternate” or “Gym Red” will be available at the pop-up shop, even though the sneaker is actually scheduled to be among July’s Air Jordan releases 2016. So, it does not officially hit the shelves until July 2nd. Fortunately, sneakerheads who are in Salt Lake City and end up making it at the Fice Gallery and Boutique by 2:30 PM will be able to cop a pair beforehand.

It can no longer be denied that the Air Jordan 12 is one of Jordan Brand’s forerunning models in 2016 and Jordanheads who love the silhouette are probably glad. As for sneakerheads who assumed that the Jumpman would take a break from the Air Jordan 12 releases will be quite surprised because two new colorways of the model are on their way, one of which is the “Grey/University Blue” one, as seen above.

Jordan-12-Grey1-2This one is certainly much subtler than other Air Jordan 12 colorways that have hit the shelves recently, so a combination of Grey and White is spread across its leather uppers. As a result, it sports quite a tonal appearance, while the color scheme also stands out because of the University Blue-colored accents that can be spotted throughout. Finally, this sneaker is equipped with all-White laces and Metallic-silver eyelets, both of which complete the look. While it has been confirmed that the Air Jordan 12 “Grey/University Blue” will be retailing at a price of $190 on June 25th, the colorway below will make its retail debut slightly earlier.

Air-Jordan-12-GS-3This Air Jordan 12 is actually GS-sized and so it has been dubbed “Hyper Violet” after the accentuating hue that dominates a lot of the uppers. The nubuck and suede uppers, including the laces, leather mudguards and a part of the midsoles, are dressed up in Black. Adding a pop of color to the ominous-looking base is the Hyper Violet hue that covers the inner linings, pull tabs, outsoles and rear portions. Finally, the eyelets are covered in Metallic Silver and add the finishing touch. The Air Jordan 12 “Hyper Violet” is scheduled to be dropped on June 18th and its retail price will be $140.
