Jordan Brand Has Decided To Discontinue Carmelo Anthony’s Jordan Melo Signature Sneaker Line

The 2017–18 NBA season will be Carmelo Anthony’s 15th season. While Carmelo will be donning a brand new Oklahoma City Thunder uniform designed and sponsored by Nike, it seems that he will a brand new Jordan Melo model. So far, Jordan Brand has released 13 Melo models, the latest one being the Jordan Melo M13, which is also the final model because Carmelo’s signature is being reportedly discontinued indefinitely. Through OKC’s preseason games, Carmelo was mostly spotted rocking the M13. Now that his signature line has ended, he will apparently be wearing new Air Jordan 32 colorways and other Player Exclusive iterations during his 15th season.

Melo-2While this unfortunate news is certainly true, Carmelo himself seems to believe that Jordan Brand will add another installment to his signature line at some point in the unforeseen future. In NBA history, Carmelo Anthony has the fifth-longest signature sneaker line. Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan line is the longest, with 32 models so far. Despite the seeming end of Carmelo Anthony’s signature line, he will continue to remain one of the brand’s leading athletes, considering the long-term endorsement deal that he signed back in January 2017. Apparently, Jordan Brand made this decision in order to bring forth a new era of signature sneakers.

Now that Carmelo Anthony’s signature line has been discontinued, it is uncertain if Nike will be dropping further colorways of the Jordan Melo M13, or any of the previous models. The last Jordan Melo M13 releases that took place were the “Ice Bue” and “Sunset Glow” colorways that arrived at retailers on February 25th, 2017.

Carmelo Anthony was recently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but back in April of this year, there were also rumors and speculations that the Melo M13 might even debut in a colorway inspired by his previous team, the New York Knicks. For the time being, the Jordan Melo line has reached its conclusion.
