In 2015, the last time the Air Jordan 5 had received the low-top treatment had been back in 2007. In 2015, Jordan Brand decided to once again drop multiple Air Jordan 5 Low colorways. In fact, they decided to bring back the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” in low-top form. Sneakerheads had mixed feelings about this low-top variation, despite that fact that it was almost identical to the original, high-top version of this iteration. The Air Jordan 5 Low “Fire Red” also featured a Black, Fire Red and White color scheme, the only exception being its lower cut and Black-colored side mesh panels instead of colored ones.
For sneakerheads who still who do not know, the Jordan Son of Mars is one of the hybrid silhouettes that Jordan Brand designed for and as a nod to Spike Lee. The Son of Mars was inspired by the Air Jordan 3, 5, 6 and 20. The Jordan releases 2017 will include several different Son of Mars colorways and apparently one of them will be the “Fire Red” one featured here. Just like the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red,” this Son of Mars rendition also has predominantly clean White-colored uppers with Black- and Fire Red-colored accents. It is also equipped with icy translucent outsoles and features Pure Platinum-colored elephant print-covered overlays too.
It turns out that February’s Air Jordan releases 2017 will kick off Jordan Brand’s new lineup of Son of Mars colorways for this year. They have already confirmed that the Jordan Son of Mars “Fire Red” will make its retail debut on February 1st, 2017.
