Back in 2012, Nike introduced the Flyknit Racer to the world as a performance shoe that offers a snug, sock-like fit while still being technologically advanced like modern day sneakers. Over the course of 4 years, the Flyknit Racer was precision engineered so that the wearer’s feet could be supported in all the necessary areas. Ultimately, the Flyknit Racer was a form fitting and seamless shoe, which barely used any material and was also lightweight. While Jordan Brand has never incorporated Flyknit technology into their sneaker models, but that is all about to change. Jordan Brand’s very first Flyknit sneaker is set to join upcoming Jordan releases 2017.
On their part at least, Nike never really revealed how they produced the Flyknit Racer, but it was quite obvious that they created the single piece uppers using a flat knitting machine. Nike also incorporated closed selvedge throughout the shoe and wove Flywire lacing system for additional support. Several other leading footwear manufacturers like adidas have tried to mimic the Flyknit technology, but none of them have managed to match the engineering and quality of Nike’s knitted shoes. Nike’s Flyknit technology has proven to be quite a valuable innovation within the footwear industry, especially considering that wastage during sneaker manufacturing is reduced by 60%.
Over the past few years, Jordan Brand has whipped up several different lifestyle and training models. Jordan Brand’s latest trainer is the Jordan Trainer 2 Flyknit featured here, a variation that draws inspiration from the workouts that Michael Jordan used to do when he was performing as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Jordan Brand has incorporated Nike’s innovative woven textile into the Jordan Trainer 2 Flyknit, but the material has been upgraded to be more resistant, sturdy and supportive. Further lockdown support is ensured by midfoot straps, while the wearer will receive dynamic cushioning thanks to Nike Zoom Air in each sole.
It seems that Jordan Brand’s first Flyknit trainer will be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2017 in two different colorways. Both of these colorways appear to be sporting some kind of key branding over each inner tongue and Elephant Print detailing over the straps. For sneakerheads who are interested in copping a pair, this Jordan Trainer 2 Flyknit is scheduled to make its retail debut at a price of $140 on July 1st, 2017.
