Sneakerheads who are avid WWE enthusiasts are likely aware that the World Wrestling Entertainment has always had two main professional wrestling TV programs, namely Raw and SmackDown. WWE recently made the decision that much like Monday Night Raw, SmackDown would now be broadcast live on Tuesday nights and would have its own separate roster. Over the years of WWE’s history, the company has held a total of nine drafts ever since the initial one back in 2002. This Tuesday on July 20, WWE kicked off the very first episode of SmackDown Live with the latest draft and Shane McMahon appeared laced up in a custom SmackDown-themed Air Jordan 1 pair.
While the presentation of the 2016 WWE Draft was interesting enough, many questions have been raised as to how the draft was booked by the company. Things did not seem to be going balanced and fair in favor of SmackDown Live. This potentially suggests that Monday Night Raw might actually remain WWE’s flagship program and WWE perhaps is not as interested in SmackDown Live as it appears to be. Then again, this is just the beginning and SmackDown Live still has talents the like of AJ Styles and the current WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose.
Of course, considering that Shane O Mac is the commissioner of SmackDown Live, it would make perfect sense for him to attend the draft rocking custom kicks dressed up in the colors of the Blue Brand. Moreover, considering his recent relationship with Jordan Brand, it is also not surprising that the sneaker turned out to be a custom Air Jordan 1 High pair. Mache Customs, the renowned sneaker customizer, is the one who designed the pair featured here, which is dressed up in a Blue and White color scheme. The tongue’s of this sneaker feature WWE Draft branding and the heel of each shoe sports “SHANE O’S $MACK DOWN” and “THE MONEY $HOW,” respectively. Of course, this sneaker will not be up for grabs.
