By the time 2016 was nearing its end, Jordan Brand unveiled their “Take Flight” Pack. Way before that though, photos of the Air Jordan 8 colorway drawing inspiration from the original MA-1 flight bomber jacket had already surfaced online. The pack also includes an Air Jordan 5 colorway that is inspired by the P-51 flight bomber jacket and has nubuck uppers dressed up in a combination of Sequoia Green with Vachetta Tan leather tongues. Finally, they the sneaker from this pack is an Air Jordan 15 iteration. Some sneakerheads are probably thinking that this iteration was whipped up specifically for this pack, but it is actually an OG colorway. The most recent release of the Air Jordan 15 were the two limited colorways that Jordan Brand had designed to mark the release of the 2016 3D stop-motion film, Kubo and the Two Strings. Hence, the two iterations were not among 2016’s general Jordan releases, rather a total of 220 pairs were auctioned off on eBay. All proceeds from those auctions had gone to the non-profit organization, Just Keep Livin Foundation. Above all, the two renditions were designed by Tinker Hatfield. Sneakerheads already know that the Air Jordan 15 “Stealth” returns in 2017 and just recently, new photos of next year’s version popped up online. Jordan Brand has barely disclosed anything about potential Air Jordan releases 2017, which is understandable considering that the present year is not even halfway through. Hence, there are many sneakers that the Jumpman could potentially bring back. Since February 2016 already passed and February 7, 2017 will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1987 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, so one particular sneaker that should definitely return is the Air Jordan 2 “Made In Italy.” It cannot really be confirmed whether this sneaker will actually make its comeback, but this much is certain that the Air Jordan 15 is scheduled to make a comeback next year. Jordan Brand still has plenty of time to surprise their loyal fans this year by the time 2016 comes to an end, but they should also be prepared for what is to come next year. That include return of the Air Jordan 15 Retro, particularly its “Stealth Black / Varsity Red” colorway, which is slated to make its comeback after 8 years. However, the jordan releases 2017 version will nothing like the previous two re-releases from the 2007 Jordan Flight Club drop and the 2008 Countdown Pack. Instead, it will be a true retro and closest to sneaker that Tinker Hatfield had originally designed.
The Air Jordan 15 Retro “Stealth Black / Varsity Red” had originally made its debut back on November 12, 1999 and its retail price back then had been $150. The uppers of the 1999 retro predominantly consisted of black colored full grain leather, while their top halves were made up of woven material. A vertical red strip was featured over the heel counters, running downwards. Since Michael Jordan was known for sticking the tongues of his sneaker out when performing on the court, Tinker had designed the Air Jordan 15’s tongues accordingly.
As for the inspiration behind the sneaker itself, NASA’s X-15 Fighter Jet from 1950 was the primary source and the silhouette does somewhat appear as if it is something high-tech. Other noteworthy features of this model include its hidden lace system, one-piece dynamic fit sleeve and its Zoom Air insoles. The sneaker is also equipped with injected TPR external heel counters, which enhance the support its offers. Finally, this sneaker is also equipped with two-piece outsoles that feature extended wraps and rubber herringbone pods, which improve traction.
So far, there are not many details but it is very likely that the Air Jordan 15 is indeed returning next year and it will resemble the OG more accurately than its predecessors. While Jordanheads should think of it as rumor for now, but Air Jordan 15 Retro “Stealth Black / Varsity Red” hit the shelves once again in 2017.

In recent times, lots of outrageous but untrue news about Michael Jordan has surfaced. It has been wrongfully reported that the G.O.A.T. has supposedly claimed that the Air Jordan sneakers have never been designed for “poor black kids.” According to these dishonest reports, MJ has even claimed that the reason Jordan Brand’s sneakers are so expensive is because they are meant for “suburban whites.” Another fake news report even suggested that Michael Jordan is planning to lower the prices of Air Jordan sneakers down to nearly $20 in 2017 because it allegedly costs merely $5 to produce them.
